D&D WILL take place tonight

Thankfully GeekLife and the surrounding area fared well during the recent flooding.
The forecast calls for mild rain, so YES D&D will take place tonight.
We will post on our website and on Facebook if the area begins to flood or if we hear from a particular DM that they are unable to make it out.
Drive safe and see you soon!

2014 a recap

We really enjoy kicking off our year at OwlCon. It’s such a tight knit, friendly community. We have made lots of friends there over the years and of course had a great time at our third OwlCon.

A friend let us in on a really awesome Kickstarter from Make Believe Games for I AM ZOMBIE. We quickly threw our support behind Mark “The Dot” Rein•Hagen. We also ended up offering feedback during the final process and both the store and the owner have been listed in the credits.

April brought us on the road for the first time to AggieCon. We really enjoyed our first road trip show and were happy to make a lot of friends and pleasantly surprised to see quite a few familiar faces, too.

In May we did our third Comicpalooza and every year the show gets better and better. We had a great time (despite not feeling that great) and we know everyone else did, too.

We actually wrapped the convention season up early this year with ApolloCon in June. It was a lot of fun, but Mrs. GeekLife had to sit out the rest of the convention season because, evidently knitting another human at the molecular level is a tad exhausting (and also the reason she didn’t feel all that great at AggieCon).

A few months after the arrival of Baby GeekLife, plans were set in motion to start actively pursuing the storefront location. 2014 ended with a lot of promising leads and no small amount of excitement to see what 2015 would bring.

Thanks for being there with us and for us along the way. Without you, we wouldn’t be here.

Here’s to another great year!

2013 a recap

We once again started off the year at OwlCon (phew, no apocalypse!) and once again had a blast seeing all of our friends and making new ones.

The spring saw us at the vintage/maker-oriented Pop Shop Houston along with several of our vendor friends. It was a beautiful weekend and lots of fun. We quickly followed that with our second time out at Comicpalooza. It was a remarkable show and we had a great weekend.

In June we did a small little Men’s Pop Shop in The Heights. It was overall a good weekend with lots of new faces.

Unfortunately this year we had a scheduling conflict with ApolloCon and weren’t able to make it, but we hope to be able to do so next year.

As the summer drew to a close, we wrapped it up with our second time out at Space City Con. The new location in West Chase was definitely an improvement over the crowded Galleria and everyone seemed to have a good time. The gaming was a little off set from the rest of the convention, so we loaded up a tray with dice and a few other small items and walked the game floor selling. It was well received and a lot of fun, too.

The fall started quite, but ended with a busy November. We did both the Gulf Coast Toy Show and Pop Shop Houston. We had a good time at both and met lots of new people.

It was another fun filled year of growth for GeekLife and we’re excited to see what the next year brings. Thanks for being a part of it!

For a good cause. ..
